The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Center

Philip West, Director

The Mansfield center honors the public life of Mike Mansfield by offering programs in modern Asian affairs and in ethics in public affairs. The Modern Asian Affairs program is concerned with modern historical, political, economic, cultural and intellectual developments in East Asia. The ethics in Public Affairs program focuses on the character, values, and the ethical dimensions of leadership, public institutions and policies, and international affairs. Mansfield Center activities in both programs include courses, conferences, special lectures, research projects, internships and foreign exchanges. Courses are offered at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, with the consent of the instructor required. Conferences and special lectures are generally open to the public.

Courses taught by the Mansfield Center faculty are usually listed or cross-listed with other departments or programs such as history, philosophy, or Asian studies.
