Global Gateway maintains an active, nationally recognized research program. Research results in pedagogy, instructional design and course development have been published in several peer-reviewed academic journals in recent years.
In fall 2015, Dr. Fluck presented at the Association of American Colleges & Universities (AAC&U) Global Learning in College: Defining, Developing, and Assessing Institutional Roadmaps conference in October, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His presentation was titled: Global Gateway: The Role of Strategic Partnerships and Leadership in P-20 Global Learning.
Also in October 2015, Dr. Fluck developed and delivered a seminars titled: Global Competence Skill-Building in K-12, at the Montana Education Association and the Montana Federation of Teachers annual conference held in Billings, MT, in October 2015.
In fall 2014, Dr. Fluck developed and delivered two, four-hour seminars titled Cross-Cultural Skill-Building at the Montana Education Association and the Montana Federation of Teachers annual conference held in Missoula, in October. The two seminars were a compressed version of the 16-hour Global Competence Summer Academy, facilitated by Fluck in June 2014.
While he has presented and published primarily as a lead author in recent years, Dr. Fluck has also collaborated with colleagues and researchers from his own Alma Mater, as well as from other US universities, on scholarly articles since the mid 1990's.
In fall 2014, Dr. Sandra Williams, associate professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, and Dr. Fluck, gave the presentation “Window to the World: Infusing Global Competence into Your Curriculum” at the Montana Business Education Association sectional at the Montana Association of Career and Technical Education fall conference held in Missoula, in October.
In 2009, Dr. Fluck was the invited first author for a chapter in a nationwide publication titled International Students Strengthening a Critical Resource. The book is endorsed by the American Council on Education and is part of the American Council on Education Series on Higher Education.
On a countrywide level, Dr. Fluck has been the invited and plenary speaker and panelist at over 10 national conferences in the past decade.
