Global Gateway to Community

This service portal connects international students, scholars, activities and events to the Missoula Community. It presents a variety of cross-cultural and global competence learning opportunities to partnering organizations in the community.

  • Missoula International Friendship Program
    A volunteer organization promoting global awareness, understanding, friendship, and intercultural learning with the international students and scholars at the University of Montana and the greater Missoula community.
  • Roxy Theater
    A non-profit art house theater dedicated to bringing Missoula the finest in new and classic films and intimate live events. In addition, the Roxy hosts cultural programming, with weekly screenings of new and classic films from around the world – Foreign language films, independent fiction, documentaries and classics. In spring 2014, the Global Gateway Foreign Film Series GGFFS), moved from the University Center Theater to the Roxy Community Theater. This move proved to be very successful change in venue for the GGFFS, as viewership increased and continues to grow. The Roxy Theater, in walking-distance from the UM campus, connects our community to the world and the world to our community.

  • Montana International Children's Film Festival: 
    Provides Montana children and their families the opportunity to watch family films from all over the world. The festival's purpose is to provide a bridge for international professors and students at the University of Montana to share their culture heritages with Montana families, together creating a festival where participants gain a sense of international awareness through mutual understanding and respect for one another. The first Montana International Children’s Film Festival was held at the Roxy Theater in Missoula, which also collaborates with Global Gateway.
  • Maureen and Mike Mansfield Center:
    Enhances mutual understanding between the United States and Asia and to fostering ethical public policy and leadership. The Center supports this mission by fostering university and community links with Asia and dialogue on issues facing the United States, Asia, and the world on matters of the economy, the environment, global development and international relations.
  • Confucius Institute:
    The Confucius Institute is part of an international network of Confucius Institutes dedicated to providing education, public programming, and teacher training on Chinese language, history, culture, and current affairs. The Confucius Institute offers and supports a variety of public lectures, culture programs and experiences, enriching the Missoula community.
