An historical, aesthetic, and critical survey of the French cinema, from its beginnings in 1895 through the contemporary cinema (Muet, classical, Realism, Nouvelle Vogue, etc.) With an introduction to contemporary film criticism. Students taking the course for French credits are required to do research, reading, and writing in the French language.
